The Need For Insurance

My Story

My conviction and strong beliefs in having life insurance started five years ago, when I lost my husband in a car accident. At the time I was 23 years old, pregnant with our child and totally dependent on him. I thought my days were over forever...

Our life together started like a fairytale. We had been dating for years before we finally decided to get married. We were full of hopes and plans for a great future together. Our wedding was beautiful, and we were on our way to be a perfectly happy couple for the rest of our lives. To make our union even more complete, we found out that we were expecting our first baby boy.

In Russia we have a saying “The man is the one who plans; God is the one who makes the decisions”. Our marriage lasted only a few months. Being seven months pregnant, I received the devastating news that my husband passed away in a car accident. With him gone, all my dreams, hopes and plans had perished.

As a result of this terrible event, I was left without income, no ability to pay the mortgage nor provide for my baby. To make things even worse, my husband had left some unfinished projects and the next day after his death people showed up at my house, asking me to pay them back for his incomplete work.

I live in America now with my son Rafael and husband Anthony. My story is the very reason I am in financial services today. I feel compelled to prepare people for the unpredictable situations of life. I feel a strong need to share how important it is to plan for the future. It is a wonderful feeling to know that your family is protected in case some unforeseen tragedy happens to you.

Looking back now, I wish there had been a person to assist me with available financial strategies; a professional to tell us that life insurance was a way to help protect your loved ones.

Very few of people in Russia have life insurance. The Russian culture is different and not known to emphasize coverage and protection for families.

I encourage everybody to take a moment and think about the implications it would leave on your family members, if tragedy were to strike. I realize that it is uncomfortable to discuss the topic of death. Life is a good reason to think about it—life is too precious not to help protect…!
